About the Artist                                           IMG_1016.JPG

Larry Johnson

Born in Kalamazoo Michigan, Larry was drawn to easel as a young boy starting first with cartoons. Like many aspiring artisits, formal classes did not draw the creativity, however, the love of drawing turned to architectrual drawing in high school and into college.

The love of art remained strong, but like many artists, the necessity of life took him into private designing, building, and remodeling homes. Never giving up the idea or the love of painting. Larry entered night school art classes in oils and rediscovered his abilities and desire to paint. Still painting full time was something he thought he would do when he retired.

Larry neither retired nor put down the brush. A commitment, and a rededication to his painting. He took a class at Ringling School of Art from renowned watercolorist Max Muller, picked up his brush again and has never looked back.

Larry has been painting with watercolors, acrylics and inks ever sense. His love of bright colors highlights each fine art original. His range of subject matter is as broad as his colorfull brush. Bold wildlife themes flow comfortably from his palette as his exotic birds and anamals to subtile vistas of Florida seascapes

The passion of the young artisrt has been released in the bold and creative works of the mature painter combining the freshness of a style found in life with all the vitality of the visions of youth.

Larry now lives in Sarasota, Florida.
